Wanted: AC Adapter for Canonscan D1250 U2

I need a 12V/1.25A AC-DC adapter (Canon PA-08R or similar) to suit a Canonscan D1250 U2 scanner. Mine frizzed itself (literally) tonight

If you have one or one that is suitable pm or if you have a link to one please post it here.

Thanks.

I have a couple of ex printer ones here. AD300, 13.5v @ 1.0 amp, Centre Positive. Voltage is slightly higher but the scanner will tolerate that ok. It has one of them strange tubular Canon plugs on the end with a spike up the centre, but it could be cut off and your original grafted on if it doesn't fit.

Hi Paul

You may be able to get a Dick Smith/Jaycar equivalent. When I purchased my Minolta DiMage 7hi camera I purchased the mains adapter with it, for an extra $85.

When I got it home, it appeared to be the exact same unit (appearance, size, markings, electrical specification, polarity) as a Dick Smith 12V 1A regulated mains adapter I already had, for $29.00.

So, taking a guess here (i.e. proceed at your own risk!), providing the polarity is the same, the electrical properties such as the rated volts, current draw, regulated, etc are the same, if the physical interface is the same then maybe DS/Jaycar would have an equivalent?

But as always, with anything electrical, err of the side of caution and safety. Saving a few dollars is not worth it if the risks are electrocution, equipment damage, fire, etc.

Cheers

Dennis

thanks folks. The plug is as Glen described it with a funny little spike in the center. In fact I think that is where the problem occured. I checked last night and somehow (I don't use the scanner normally, the rest of the family does) the center pin was bent over and touching the inside of the plug sleeve. Initially when I plugged it in there was a frightfull frizzing sound and an ugly smell, that when I knew all was not well. Since then I have tried the plug with a multimeter and the result was ...nothing. I think it's well and truely fritzed.
