M42 best effort ...

Processed this time, I would post it here but every time I try to go below 150kb it has unacceptable artifacts. so its here, at 178kb.

Its a total of 8 x 300 at 400 with the 100mm guided by the 14er. Imaged with IP & PS.

Thanks for looking..

Shawn that is a fine effort.

The detail is excellent... when the clouds go you must have a near perfect sky.

All the work and dedication has finally paid off.

Congratualtions you will be hard pressed to beat your own effort.

That 100 mm does a great job and the guiding is spot on...unbelievable.

Keep them coming I cant wait to see you have a go at the Horse Head.

You should try a photo post here I want to see what an artifact is

Have you had any luck with imaging with the DSI thru the 14 inch ..that would test your skill...

great work.

It looks great to me Shawn..
You know if you look at the way you have framed that photo it looks like a giant bird flying in to carry off a small human.
See the wings ..I see the "birds" legs even... I think we need a rename ..the flying bird with out stretched legs neb.

Seriously that seems a good image even if you say it has something wrong from a downsize...

Again great effort and thanks for posting a photo I will compare the one at your site with this and see if I can spot the difference.

How is the weather treating you? save me looking at a weather map.

Very good capture of all the surrounding Nebulousness (is that a word? )
. . . Nebulsoly . . Nebuness . . Nebulosity!

Both look good, but I see what you mean about the loss of detail in the reduced image.

Shawn, the full res version is terrific

Great shot Shawn, maybe a touch green for me, but very very nice just the same.

Excellent image Shawn, although I have to agree with Gary, the colour looks a little unnatural to my eye.

You've done extremely well Shawn.
There's some very nice detail in there.

A couple of quick suggestions:
Before your imaging run, take an initial long exposure just to frame the object in the FOV so that no major part is cut out. This would have framed a bit better if the camera was turned say 30 deg counter clockwise to fit the running man completely in the bottom left corner.

And as Gary and Phil said, there's a slight green colour cast which you can easily fix in PS using Colour Balance.

You've certainly improved immensely in your latest images, well done indeed.

Cheers.

BTW you can now upload images to a max of 200kb on IIS.

Thanks Fellas, for the tips, and and advice I will use them for sure.. I always have my monitors turned down to preserve my night vision, Invariably I forget to turn them back up for processing the images. I see the green cast now I adjust my monitor to none braille mode...
