Let's see the final design, price and delivery before we get too carried away. It will be interesting against the Lightbridge though.

Now that is sensible. In the world where we want the biggest and best often we get brainwashed into wanting the latest and "best". If a 12" does it for your then forget the larger one with its attached problems. However, it your are into deep sky objects heavily then the 16" will blow away the 12".

its easy to get caught up in aperture fever but for the price of the 16" you could get a 12" + the almighty argo navis
love the idea of the 16" solid tube though!
whos going to be the first to put one on a gem? lol

i found this site when i did an image search on google, but im not sure it is really a 16". by measuring the 50mm finder scope in the picture the tube is about 45cm in diameter, but then agian thats about the same size as the tube on the 12".

Good ideas, sometimes portability is not the best solution You may want ease of use and stablility!!

My 8" on steroids!
Doesn't seem to be any more substantial support for the 16" mirror. Everything looks just like my 8" expanded. I look forward to hearing firstlight reports.
Edit: Yes, Greg and Jarrod make sense - they've thrown in closeups of an 8" GSO dob.

Check the scale in relation to the cooling fan? and the focuser does not appear to be 10:1, maybe they are starved for photos'.

the mount/base in one of the pictures is of an 8" GSO dob, and apart from the main picture (white tube) all the telescope tubes are the shiny brown/silver colour used on the 6, 8, 10 and 12" GSO scopes. it looks like GSO has emailed that one picture to all the distributers that have ordered a few 16"ers, and this particullar store is also using pictures of other GSO dobs just to display the main features.
