I see Red !! ... Lunar Eclipse - What a Show

Wow, what a spectacle it was last night !
Perfect weather and conditions made for an unforgettable event.

By mid eclipse it was amazing to see how dark it became.
The milky way popped out and the whole scene was quite eerie and surreal.

Here's three of my images, one of them is on SpaceWeather.

Cheers and I hope you enjoy.

Yes, Andrew, spectacular indeed. I had similar experience at my location at Hall (Canberra). At totality I could see a bright Milky Way sweeping across the sky from the treetops in the north to the treetops in the south. A bit special. I was tempted for a second to switch from planetary to Deep Sky. This is how the moon should always be. Great pics, and congrats on the Spaceweather!

Are you going to animate the 10 images on the collage? That would be special.
I'm having a go at the moment with some of mine, but the timing of my shots is right out because of clouds etc.

My favourite is the middle one. I really enjoyed a wide angle view through my telescope with the moon surrounded by faint stars, some of which were occulted during the evening.

Fantastic Andrew. I share your sentiments. Watched it from out of town under dark skies. Started very cloudy but then cleared up beautifully.

Excellent RB! They're all good but there is something about the middle one that catches my attention - almost a 3D effect.

love your images, I enjoyed the event but equally I was happy to see so many people who never look up, so to speak, outside their houses, watching the event..so many people asked for details -when it was best to observe and that sort of stuff-during the day and for the first time in a long while an astronomical event was a watercooler topic

got to thank the media for this i guess
