Ooooooh - what a fabulous image Paul. Galaxies are truly islands floating in the vastness of space.

Cheers

Thanks guys. Now if someone would only pop over and show me how to get the colour into M8 I would be very happy.

Great image Paul - glad you picked this particular area to image as I made a point of finding time to view this quartet via my dob almost every night at Duckadang. I could just barely get all 4 galaxies within the fov of my 17mm ep but not in a "pleasant to view" manner, but the much wider scale of your image presents them in a whole new light, if you know what I mean.

Sadly the Grus Quartet (and any other rising object) took longer to clear the trees from my vantage point on the observers field than it did for those of you over on the "girls field" (as we renamed it last week ) but I'm glad you had the better eastern horizon.

Woo-Hoooo, fantastic!

As Dennis says above: "Galaxies are truly islands floating in the vastness of space"

Your great image displays that 'Island' effect. Stunning.
