Counter Weights

I was just interested in the amount of counter weight you need for an EQ mount, i am playing around with the idea of making one to fit my 8"

It depends on the weight of what you're putting on the EQ mount. I've got approx 25kg of counter weights to balance my 12" newt on the EQ6.

Cool, the gym guy at work said i can have 5kg for $5 so i might grab 4 of them from him

Sounds good - just weigh your OTA plus accessories etc that you expect to hang off the mount, and get an equivalent amount of counter weights.
