Five on a frosty night

Hi All.

Last night it was a chilly minus two degrees, however it was clear and seeing seemed pretty good.

I managed to image five objects, using the Canon 300mm F/2.8 lens with a Canon 1.4 Extender, giving me a 420 mm focal length, giving a great wide field

I think they turned out pretty good, but i will let you good people be the judge.

The evening comprised of, ten exposures of each object, at 35 seconds each, at 800 ISO, unguided on G11 mount, In camera noise reduction 2, no flats, and processed in Image Plus, images are not cropped.

Hope you like them.

Not necessarily in this order is Omega Gentauri, M7 in Scorpio, M20 and M8 in one frame, M16 Eagle nebula, and m17 Swan or Lobster Nebula

Lovely images, Leon. It's nice to see this field of view, gives me some idea of what I can aspire to once I get my widefield setup working.

Wonderful collection of images Leon.
The 300mm, f/2.8 performs exceptionally well even with the 1.4x T.C.

As with the other comments Leon, nice and sharp.
Why not longer than 35 seconds? Try a few at 2 - 4 minutes, and see how good your tracking and alignment is. If it is OK, then crank it up, longer is better.

Really like those widefields Leon.

The Canon with that 300m lens / 1.4 converter is producing nice images.

The focus is excellent Leon! Doing really great without guiding.

Gonna be amazing long shots when you do get guiding!!!

Thank You all for your comments, that 300mm is certainly a performer in any conditions, and Ken, the guiding stuff is on it's way, should be here any day now.

Gary, i would love to go deeper but i don't thing the mount is up to much longer without guiding, but i will give it a try, and see how far i can push it, wide fields can disguise some errors.

Great stuff Leon. I particularly like the object pairing images such as lagoon and triffid or the swan and eagle. Look forward to seeing more.
