30 seconds x 30 on Eta Carina

I have been sorting out the new shed the gear etc and managed this a couple of nights ago.
I know the colour is probably off but I was interested to see the detail obtained with only 30 sec exposures stacked.
I used 300d, 750fl 150sn scope, eq6 unguided mount...and a very dark and clear sky.
I obtained 30 images at 30 seconds each and told "Deep Skystacker"to select the best 75% and away it went. the final image was played with in photoshop but that probably made it worse

Hope this gives encouragement to those who think their mount wont cut it.. almost any mount can extract 30 seconds of reasonable tracking and if a frame has pe the program will disregard it.
Deep sky enables you to subtract dark frames and flats (no flat in this one) so I took 3 dark frames to add to the stack.

Nice one Alex, I was amazed at the detail you can get with modest exposures. But doing longer exposures and more frames means less processing you need to do in the final stages, which is always a plus.

Well done...

Re observatory....
garden shed going well, completly lined with pine .
flattended new battery but it was replaced.
Winch works well now although a roll out system.
Fans in,
lap top desk in
small work bench in,
scopes on pier (three in all 150 sn, 80x400 and 70x600)
Will be adding 6 more wheels total of 12, and additional internal framing.

It is a treat to be able to work on the scopes during the day in the clean dog hair free shed, set up and drag it off at dusk... its like a rocket launch with the hangar rolling away

Rock observatory ... no progress other than roof design finally determined..two single bed frames for doors in the roof approach.

Bed frames found for doors and I am now looking for roofing materials available around the place.

Old AG pool sideing seems the best I have so far.

Hi Alex, that's a very nice image you have produced. The stars are quite sharp which suggests your tracking is quite good and the level of detail is very good for 30 second subs.

A great effort, looking forward to seeing more.

Thanks Ric.
The set up runs unguided for 200 seconds sometimes???
There is still lots of work to be done but I am very happy so far.
Here is a M83 again 30 seconds... this is cropped from a much larger image from the original stack but I have lost that one and have to stack it again... but this was something I was playing with that survived . Try and overlook the color I was trying to get detail and I cant tell what it is now
