Hi guys,

I must admit I'm not happy with the timing as well, as much as I find the agenda quite appealing.

Considering the fact that we already have NACAA 2 weeks after Skytopia, the SPSP in the next month and IISAS in Jan (I think) I would have preferred the organisers to consider say Spring - why not Oct?

Those people with families may find it difficult to escape for 2 weekends so close together. Speaking as the convenor for NACAA 2008, there has always been a slight concern with SPSP being so close to NACAA - now we have to contend with another star party.

Oh well,

Regards

Glenn

Yes Glen, it's got to a stage of almost too many events now.

Our SVAA committee were considering moving our November Camp to another time, but can't. Our November Camp occasionally clashes with Vicsouth, which is unfair to them.

Now it appears we will be hurt big time by this 'Skytopia'!!!! I wonder if the organisers checked the dates of already existing events!!

"The next IISAC event, IISAC2008, will be held over 3 nights from October 30th - November 1st, 2008 (Thursday/Friday/Saturday nights)."

It won't clash with the IISAC but yeah, that is still close to SPSP and NACAA. I think they may have wanted it like this so that the international visitors can hang around and still attend SPSP etc.

Looks interesting, I'd love the prize!

As Kal pointed out, there's no IISAC in January next year as it's moving to October to get away from the heat.

Skytopia being in Victoria, i'm not sure how many people would have to choose between SkyTopia and SPSP.. a bit like QLD Astrofest and BSG - same weekend, but in different states so there's not likely to be too many people who would have to choose one over the other.

I could be wrong though.. It would be great to attend but I know personally I would have to choose between one or the other. And with NACAA as well (which I will be attending) I would really be pushing my luck.

However it would definitely affect snake valley camp I imagine, with people having to choose. Sorry to hear that Ken.

Looks interesting anyway.
