Saturn - 12 May - Canberra

Captured a few AVIs around 6pm tonight.

Here's the result of a couple processed at random in Registax 4. Nothing else done.

Thought I'd present 2 versions, one with north and one south up

Ambient temp still falling rapidly and scope nowhere near properly cooled, but the conditions still returned what I think is my best ever Saturn.

I'm happy to have captured the Cassini Division all the way around and it looks very cool seeing the planet's glode through the rings.

I think we're heading for very good conditions here in Canberra tonight

Well done Matt! That's a very good image regardless of the conditions. Saturn is not an easy target...

Excellent images Matt for so late in the season - well done! In terms of orientation, I much prefer the 2nd image (South up I think?).

Cheers

Thanks for the comments, guys.

Hi bluescope. Yes, these were taken with the ToUcam ProII with Baader UV/IR cut filter.

I used a Televue 3x barlow.

I just bought a Baader 2" UV/IR to use with my MPCC ... I might get a 2" Barlow so I can use it with my ToUcam as well.

Beautiful pics, I think I prefer the second one (you just get used to seeing it oriented that way I guess! )

Very nice effort Matt, Saturn images have been pretty thin on the ground this year.

Excellent image Matt! Saturn is too far West even at sunset for me to try.
