Trying out the LX200-10" at F-10 and got the guiding reasonably good, both Pix. are 4 x 10 Min. Exp. at ISO800 (Canon modded) DF removed, guided w/ED80 + MX7C, the colours are as taken.

cheers............Jim

Hi Jim

You are a brave man guiding at F10, I'm impressed that you were able to take 10 min sub frames. Some minor stellar elongation is still visible, but the images are none the less still impressive in their own right. Well done!

Cheers

Dennis

Hi All,
Many thanks for the comments, and yes guiding a Large Scope at F-10 is not easy, and with a Fork Mount it changes at each angle, so counterweights are necessary, easy done with a GEM but no so with a Fork Mount on a wedge at this or lesser latitudes, Eric the focus is the best that I could get using DSLR Focus, but I agree it could be sharper.

cheers....Jim

Jim, have you tried using a Hartman mask to focus ?. I always use this method. One of the best methods to use, and get great results. Just make one yourself, and off you go.
To get a really good focus, use the zoom function to zoom in on the star your focusing. I always finish with a Zoom of 800 to focus right.
