Sombrero prime focus

Clouds have brought a halt to tonights viewing......

I really don't think these are anything to be proud of, but I'm enjoying it anyway. It's better than the 35mm I have been enduring all these years!

So, there really is a Sombrero!

I spent over two hours looking for it last night then gave up and checked out that bright yellow star. Guess what. I found Jupiter, it's a lot easier to locate.

I guess I'll have another go at it to-night with my seeing-eye dog.

Happy stargazing,
John.

I tried to make it come out in photoshop...you can see the dust ring, but there's a lot of sample noise.

Hope you don't mind me editing your picture

Hey Ingo, improving Baz's image is like giving Cocaine to an addict, there will be no stopping him now

Thanks Ingo,

I tried to use Corel photo shop on it myself. I had no idea what i was doing, just clicking on stuff to see what it did. Hitting undo heaps lol!

I am stunned and amazed at what the camera can do, but a bit disheartened by the complicated editing programs out there.

Baz.

Try out Photoshop, you can get CS3 I think now in a 30 day trial demo. I just messed with levels and stuff.

Gotta learn how to stack. I am of the understanding that you can place images on top of each other to get better and better the more you add or something? Is that right?

Also, is it true that there are programs that take out anything that is not common to ALL the images in a stacked set?

BAz.

noise can be removed by many different pieces of softare, you may wish t start with noiseware community edition, free,

Nice start Baz,there is a bit of a lurning curve but It's all fun.
A very good book to get is Wadaski's Zone System but take your time with It and you'll start seeing good results If you don't skip your basics first.
