Here's another image from 11 minutes later, Io has moved appreciably.

21/3: Replaced the original image with the final version.

Another beauty. So many fine details at the poles.

Are you making an animation? (say yes!)

yes! (maybe)

Out of about 20 imaging runs over 2 hours there are really only 2 or 3 where everything is perfect, the others show some thermal motion and seeing problems.

I still reckon the animation would be worth it, even if only 50% are the frames are as good as these posted in this thread.

As I said on CN, it's the best image of Jupiter i've seen outside the Barbados. The fine detail even rivals those from Damian. Good that you're setting the bar now, as it's only 9 weeks until he's back in the barbados! Let him play catchup for once

For the next few days (while its rainy) I'll probably keep re-working just the best images from that night to see what I can get, then I'll think about a mass processing run for an animation.

It only takes a slight drop in seeing or thermals to make a big difference in clarity, all the early images showing the shadow transit are nothing special at all.

cheers, Bird

Thats true Mike, but the difference is, you, Anthony and Zac among others down there post nearly realtime results. We won't see Damians stuff probably for months. What Damian does with a C14 is amazing. His processing skills are legendary, but apparently very time consuming.

Would'nt it be cool to attach one of or DMK cameras to - say a 36" reflector on top of Maun Kea! We should all do that before we cash it in!

fan-bloody-tastic Anthony.

Glenn, thanks - it would be nice to know some of Damian's processing secrets. Maybe it's all revealed in his DVD
