FOR SALE : 10 Inch Dob [SOLD]

10 inch f4 Dobsonian Reflector Telescope

Rebuilt by previous owner including replacement of optics and custom built (very steady) mount. The scope was purchased from Telescopes & Astronomy in October 2005, and it is on the market because I have upgraded to an HEQ5 Pro and SCT.

Superb deep sky instrument

Includes :
- 2 inch focuser with 1.25 inch adaptor
- Three 1.25 inch Plossl eyepieces (25mm, 12mm and 6mm)
- 8x50 finderscope
- Storage box for OTA

Due to size, would prefer local pickup (Adelaide metro).

Price $650 ono

With regards to the optics, they were replaced/upgraded by the previous owner (an ASSA member). This information was passed on to me when I purchased the telescope from Matthew Lovell at Telescopes & Astronomy here in Adelaide. Therefore, I am not sure of specific details.

I have managed to acquire some additional information regarding the optics...........

Primary mirror : test results

o Strehl ratio 88%
o True wave 1/6

Secondary : 1/10th wave pyrex

I do not have documented results, but these were obtained from T&A

What are the dimensions of the box for the OTA? I am guessing the OTA itself shouldn't be much longer than 40". Hence it would make a relatively portable system.
Also which part of Adelaide? I have relos in the mid-north that I visit from time to time.

Hey there Tempestwizz,

The box for the OTA is 1140mm long, 420mm wide and 400mm high.

I have often transported it in the back seat of my car out to dark sky spots. Otherwise, for a very small car, the OTA can lay on the seat as it is only 1000mm long.

In terms of location, I am in Grange.

Cheers,

Daniel
