A late Xmas present
The lovely Kee just bought me a late Christmas present, she's a darling.
It's a mini weather station with a remote sensor that sits outside and also predicts cloud cover up to a 50km radius.
We set it up and it said cloudy and sure enough there was cloud to the horizon. about half an hour ago it changed to clear sky so I went out at had a look and sure enough clear skies everywhere and right out to horizon which is about 50 km for me.
The little thing is pretty accurate and what amazes me is the technology that goes into these, imagine twenty years ago you probably needed twenty squares of office space for a computer that would predict something like this.

Na, mine is not that flash, however it works pretty well, and seems reasonably
accurate.

Nice instruments Oregon scientific, I'm sure you'll get plenty of pleasure out of it Ric.
I've gone the same way as Phil and ordered a Davis Vantage Pro on Thursday and I'm itching for it to arrive.

I thought it was playing up this afternoon there was blue sky everywhere and it was telling me it was partly cloudy. Sure enough about half an hour later there are clouds rolling across the sky.
Sensitive little beastie that's for sure.

Onya, Ric (well, Kee really). Yes Oregon have a pretty good reputation. I wouldn't trust any of these whiz-bang machines though (including Davis, La Crosse and Oregon) to give you an accurate forecast, so don't be disappointed if it gives you strange readings at times.
While I don't use the forecasts on my website - see my profile - I've had my console showing bright and sunny weather when it's been raining for ages. In fact (I just glanced over at it) at this point in time my console is showing a lovely sun image; it's been cloudy since before dawn.

I was reading back through the manual and it says the prediction is for the next 12-24 hour period with a 75% accuracy, sounds like they are having a dollar each way.
So if I'm showing a sunny day now which it is then it should be clear tonight as well still it's all good fun.
I liked your weather website it's very well set up and very informative it actually looks similar to the one that is on the computer at the RFS station I'm with.

It could well be, Ric. While I do all my own layouts the basic information is captured from my weather station by a program called Weather Display. I then just pick and choose as to what information I would like to use.
There are many sites around the world using the same software - some of which are much better looking than mine. I have chosen to keep my site to pretty much 'bare bones' information.
Thanks for your comment, Ric, 'tis appreciated.
