Help Losmandy GM-200 to HGM-200 Conversion!

Hi All,

I have a very good friend who owns a GM-200 with a tangent arm assembly. We want to replace this with a HGM-200 DEC Assembly, for full goto operation. Can anyone out there help us with drawings and measurements of the HGM-200 DEC assembly so we can get them machined. Essentialy the two mounts are identical except for the DEC Assembly.

We have tried to get assistance from Losmandy Co. but have been unsuccessful.

We would appreciate any help or assistance people can render us.

Still no luck on this, we have sent an email to one user in the ACT.
Does anyone own a HGM-200 in Sydney that would be willing to help, my mate is happy to pay for the time and effort.

Well, I think it's going to be pricey you know? You will need a rather large
(8" plus ?) Byers gear - you may be able to get one to match the current drive worm if you are lucky - which will have to be mounted to the base of the saddle since the tangent arm clamps onto the shaft and you can't really do that with a gear. Encoder-wise you're OK as the DEC one sits inside the mount body but you are going to have to make some form of bracket to hold the drive to the gear.

Is it really worth the cost? That byers gear alone would scare me...

I would recommend speaking with Peter Ward from atscope.com.au. He was using an HGM-200 for some time. Not sure if he still does. Being a Losmandy dealer, I'd be surprised if he can't point you in the right direction or provide advice.
