If you decide you really want that particular book you should grab it at that price. It could be years before they do another print run. When Rukl's moon atlas was out of print for a while I saw prices up to US$400 for used books. I just checked that my Hartung was out of reach of the kids - it is a very good book and I can't see many people letting go of their copy.

Have a look on Bintel's site:

http://www.bintel.com.au/

Under Astronomy books, then under H, you will find it listed there, a number of other sites list it as well.

Cheers

It was Bintel that told me it was out of stock. I went in to buy the other day.

Thanks for the link casstony, I'll have to see if sydney Uni has one, 25% off for students and I'm about to become a student.

Thanks

Hi White Rabbit

I've just ordered Hartung from the Sky & Space Magazine shop. Go to their website and follow the links. It was $87.95 plus $12 postage. Seems a good price given that it is now out of print. I'll post again if they I get a message from them to say they are out of stock.

Cheers.

Good luck White Rabbit.

It's one that's really worth hunting down.

Dymocks have this listed for $87.95. No indication if it's in stock though.

As an alternative maybe try your local library, in my local district 4 of the 6 branches have a copy and I have one of those virtually under perpetual loan plus the library service has a net service where you can search for the title your after, request it and renewals can be done over the net as well

Apparently on hearing of the difficulty of getting this book now my wonderful girlfriend has bought a copy for me!

She sourced it from Melbourne Uni as a present for my birthday, which is NOT until July!

To say I am stunned and impressed would be an understatement.
She's a very very good girl!

Luckily Ron she didn't get the (not so) gold plated version from Collins - I checked their listing, and I still cannot seem to find any difference in what they offer for $299. I must be missing SOMETHING surely ... Very strange indeed.

Cheer folks!

Steve, glad you got anearly Birthday Present
I was wandering why the person who was after the book did not try Melbourne University Book Shop? even though the book is out of print does not mean it is not available for sale.

She has bought it Ron, but has given me no guarantee that I'll actually GET it before July .. (laughing) ... but that's ok with me, knowing I'll have it eventually is almost present enough .....

Almost!

Having had the order cancelled by the Sky & Space Magazine Shop I have now ordered it from Dymocks online for $87.95 + postage. Fingers crossed that they have it in stock as their website doesn't give you than minor bit of information!

I'll update this thread with news on the order.
