Wanted - LX90, LX200, N8Si, Celstar 8" Deluxe or Ultima 2000 or better.

Ok I have found a few on Astromart and Thought before I get one from over there I should ask locally. I am looking for a semi portable 8" SCT setup that is not ancient and does not cost the earth. My budget is not big but am willing to offer what I am being asked overseas.

Preferably want a C8 with Fastar in good condition. Fork assmbly should have worm gears on both RA and DEC axis with drive for both. Wish to avoid the Tangent arm DEC setups. Also want a heavy duty wedge for eq setup.

Edit: LX90's also wanted.

Please PM me.

Regards
Fahim

Found one LX90 pending a inspection at sellers home. Thanks Mikey.
Is there any major difference between the EMC's and UHTC OTA's? I have seen the Meade graph but other is there an observable difference visually. Or is it noticeable in images.

When I got my LX90 I looked into this, everything I read mainly on Yahoo said the UHTC was definitely worth the extra A$ 250-300.
As it it turned you could only get LX90s (or any Meades) with UHTC in Australia anyway.
I cant comment on the difference I have never used one without UHTC.

Its about 10-15% extra transmission according to the Meade curves. Also the curve is much flatter around the 90% mark for the UHTC's and for the EMC's it rounds of at the lower and higher wavelengths to around 75% peaking at 80% in the middle.

One strange thing I have noted is that OTA's that say EMC on the side seem to have a Ultra High Contrast label on the front. IS this the same with UHTC's?

Chris, it boils down to budget and I believe I am getting a bargain with the accessories being thrown in. This is only my first platform for a more portable goto telescope.

I have not had much luck finding user reports and comparisons on the issue. The One thread i found on CN indicates that its not a huge difference.

Here is a glowing report for UHTC:

A bit depressing for us poor EMC optics owners.

If money is an issue and the EMC scope was a few hundred or so less I'd go for the EMC, especially since you have the 10" dob for fainter stuff. Within the limits of its aperture the LX90 is a great portable scope IMO, especially at the bargain used prices they are going for. I certianly would not buy a new one with all the used ones around. Mine is EMC

Tony, agreed.
At home I will be using my LX90 to point the way for my dob using a laser.
This is a nice way to get to those faint and fuzies till I can upgrade my dob to a Alt/AZ goto scope my next upgrade.
Only 3 weeks to go... Oh the pain.
