Thumbs up Opening my 2007 Jupiter Account

Here's Jupiter, captured at IISAC2007 at Lostock, on the Friday morning about 5:10am AEDST.

It's the official start to my Jupiter 2007 opposition, and i'm pleased to be able to open my account with this image Ok, it's not great.. the seeing was horrible and Jupiter was only at 28°. The temperature dropped another 2 degrees right before dawn and thermals started influencing the image as well.

But it's a start, and there's some detail visible. I'm curious about the large brown patch, on the East (facing) side of the planet, just below the SEB.

Looking forward to getting out there and getting many more Jupiters this season.. it's only just begun!

250 frames stacked in each channel, mild wavelets in registax, LR deconvolution in AstraImage, Curves adjustment (and text) in photoshop.

Thanks for looking.

One man's trash is another man's treasure. That's a great shot! I'd be happy with that

That's a good 2007 account opener, Mike

I like the colour balance you've managed to achieve with this image, which I imagine takes a bit of doing when you're combining separate RGB channels?

The whole overall "look" is very natural.

It bodes well for when the planet achieves a higher altitude

yes, it has started and the excitement is rising!!!!

dennis and rob are getting ready for feb and then the rest of us get our seeing after that!!!

That patch is the STrD1 disturbances, there are a couple I think.

Those two and a couple of other features are of interest for Dr John Rogers

I like it, now to go and droool over your saturn!!!
