Just a quick update regarding the inaugural Border Stargaze 2007.
Firstly, our society website (Astronomical Society of Albury-Wodonga) has undergone a massive revamp http://www.asaw.org.au/ thanks to a very generous donation of website/design by DevX Creations & MDR Designs. We now able to include some further information regarding the event, so check out the site.
We anticipate program and registration details to finalised by January 2007 - so watch this thread and this space http://www.asaw.org.au/?pid=&p=15 for updates.
A big well done on the ASAW web site . Its got me so fired up I have got my telescopes, camera gear, wife and kid packed already. I hope to see you and the gang soon.
We're pretty excited about the Stargaze here in Bright, Petra, and I'm a definite starter. The event will flush a lot of other astro-trogs out of the mountains, I'm sure. There must be heaps of other groups and individuals around the region who'll jump at the chance of attending a big event so close to home. Do Wangaratta, Benalla and Shepparton have astronomy groups?
Excellent news 33South - we look forward to seeing you.
There will be more information regarding the event posted to the ASAW / Border Stargaze website in the New Year.
It is important to ignore the accommodation prices quoted on the "venue website" - participants will be pleasantly surprised when our prices are posted in the New Year.
This is excellent - looking forward to meeting you. We will have quite an array of telescopes on hand. Not sure if Anna and I will have the 20" built by then but will give it a good try. Keep an eye out for updates as we get closer.

Petra et al, we just had our monthly get-together in Bright, and I brought up the Stargaze with the members that were there. Wouldn't be surprised if we get at least 4-6 starters for the big event. Our group is growing though, so who knows? Tonight we had 7 scopes (inc 12" Lightbridge & 10" LX200R, unheard of aperture in the group just a few months ago!) + tripod-mounted binocs out at the Porepunkah Airfield (fabulous skies), and there were a few regulars who couldn't make it. Jennie our secretary wasn't there, but I'm sure she will be happy to circularise details about the Stargaze to the group. Look forward to more details -
