Thumbs up Mars Crater...What detail !!

Saw this on the net

NASA has equipped its new Mars Reconnaisance Orbiter with the largest spacecraft telescope ever built and flew it closer to Mars than any previous spacecraft.This telescope as called the High Resolution Imaging Science Experiment, and returning the most detailed images ever seen of the Martian surface.

MRO also has photographed the Oppy an the rover tracks

Just think too that they are "old" cameras, the newer ones are capable of even more clarity and definition. looking forward for future images of the surface.

like the pictures of Oppy from orbit now also new images from NASA’s Mars Reconnaissance Orbiter show three additional NASA spacecraft that have landed on Mars: the Spirit rover active on the surface since January 2004 and the two Viking landers that successfully reached the surface in 1976.

They are all amazing pictures but from a purely aesthetic viewpoint I ca't go past that Victoria crater shot - a few major features in and around the crater combine to provide a beautiful image. Of course, all arid landscapes look beautiful from the air - not so nice when you're on the ground.
