A mate of mine in another forum has just bought himself a Dwarf smart telescope and is absolutely thrilled with the results.
On his very first images he noted some red dots to one side of a full moon image and asked me what they might be as he was worried it might be a fault in the camera sensor.
He has taken other images but the dots have not reappeared.
I ran through a number of other possibilities that it could be and recommended dark frames and checking other images to see if they continue. They have not continued so am left with just a few other possibilities and hoping that someone here may have seen something similar or have any suggestions.
1. Dust motes on the lens
2. A real object in the background.
3. Internal lens reflections of a bright light off centre
4, Internal reflections caused by the moon.
Or any other suggested cause.
I was going to say dead or maybe "stuck" pixels, where a pixel can become locked into a particular value but on looking at both images carefully I'm no longer 100% certain. May I suggest that some frames are taken against a solid baackground of another colour - such as a clear blue sky or a plain white wall - to see if they reappear.
