Canon 5D mark 4 last built in 2020, is it still the same as a build a month ago

Hi Guys, from some research it says that the Canon 5D mark 4 was last produced in 2020, however they are still available as a new product and are on the shelf, so to speak ready for sale as a new Camera.

So if I bought one it would be a least 5 years old before I even took the first shot.

Dose this length of time that has elapsed from build to sale have any effect on the electronics of the camera, or could one treat it as if it were built a month ago.

Your opinion would be much appreciated, thank you.

Leon

From an electronics standpoint Leon I would imagine fresh batteries and it's new (lovely camera by the way, I've had the pleasure of playing with one). Most electronics sitting packaged will last for an incredibly long time with the batteries being the only weak point. Though I'm not sure on mechanical components within but I'm sure they would be properly lubricated at manufacture (old Japanese grease and oil used to solidify many years back).
I guess they aren't making the 5D any more having moved to the later R series?
There could be upgrades to the firmware, I wouldn't know.

I had an original 5D here for a couple of years on long term loan by the same friend who owns the MK4, until I bought my used D810. It performed flawlessly though I did return it with a couple of new batteries I purchased for it.
Luckily Nikon lenses fit on Canon bodies, it doesn't work the other way and I have a collection of Nikon stuff.

You’ll be right Leon.
Buy from a reputable dealer and it should still have full warranty.

All my cameras are still going strong, even the 1Ds MkII.

The camera will be as new, don’t stress.

Thank you gentlemen for your response, I appreciate it.

I wasn't really stressed Andrew but just wondering, I still have two Canon 5D's the originals, and they too are humming along, I just use those two for lightning and they have been wet a few times.

Agreed Leo I have read up on them and they do seem to be a good choice, a bit pricey, but much less than they were when first released.

I'd snatch up a Mk 2-Mk4 given the opportunity and right price (cheap in my case, very cheap) and knowing all of my Nikon lenses fit straight on with my adapter. The live view of the Mk4 was so much better shooting the MW in farm dark skies than my crappy Nikon thing, nothing but noise.
Does the mk2 have WiFi or live view Nik?
My friend also has this $20,000 lens (New Canon price about 3 years ago), I'm not sure whether it's 600mm or 800mm (possibly the 1200mm looking the thing up) or what it is but it's huge and when he gave me his Mk4 to bring home he also wanted me to bring the big lens home and play. This lens was a monster of a thing and while I'd have loved to play with it I kindly rejected the opportunity because I could not afford to have it repaired if anything went wrong and as such I refused to take it. My friend was quite upset but I assured him one day I'd like the opportunity to play with the camera and lens in his presence.

Hey Leo you wouldn't play and break this one mate

The most expensive lens ever made is a Leica APO-Telyt-R 1600mm f/5.6, custom-built for Sheikh Saud Bin Mohammed Al-Thani of Qatar.

It cost just over $2 million and is considered the world's largest non-military telephoto lens.
And the thing about it Leo, it has never been since he received and never a image has been seen as well and he bought a new Mercedes to
cart the thing around, just saying
