Trev,
This is how I disable windows updates on my 2 Astro laptops running Windows 10.
It’s the same procedure for Win11

I’ve done this for 6 years now and rarely connect my Astro laptops to the internet ( only for Astro software updates every year or so )

If it doesn’t work for Windows 11 you may have to go deeper into the registry

Just Google on line how to go to a more thorough method.

Hi Trevor,

While there is a lot of info online about disabling the updates via the registry or policy editor etc, it does appear that none work as a permanent solution & the updates will recommence after several weeks anyway. All you can really do is pause them for up to 5 weeks.

It is actually part of the M$ Licensing Agreement that you have to get updates without any additional notification!
Quote:
"6. Updates. The software periodically checks for system and app updates, and downloads and installs them for you. You may obtain updates only from Microsoft or authorized sources, and Microsoft may need to update your system to provide you with those updates. By accepting this agreement or using the software, you agree to receive these types of automatic updates without any additional notice."
I pause the updates 5 weeks at a time & choose a quite period to run updates every 4 weeks or so, when I'm ready for them so they don't interfere with other activities.

Cheers,
Mark

I'll have to look into the W10 thing, mine pops up every time I take the thing out and want sharpcap working.
I should just run a pirated version, no nasty Windows pop ups (just other nasty third party pop ups unknown).
