The Dark Doodad from my B4/5 backyard.

Would you believe, I travelled 400km to pristine Bortle 1~2 skies about 150km south of Toowoomba, but with a forecast of rain, I did not even take my telescope... Wouldn't you know it, the forecast was incorrect, and I watched the stars roll across the velvety black expanse with my mk1 eyeballs...

Upon returning home, the good weather continued, and I was able to put this together.

At this stage, I'd call it a work in progress, It's about 1/2 the integration I want, and maybe 1/4 the integration it deserves, alas, a cheeky prelim process of the data yielded a pretty positive result!

6h 10m LRGB 3h 10m L, 1h each of RGB.
Askar 120APO + 0.8x reducer.
ToupTek ATR2600M, AFW, OAG.
ToupTek 36mm LRGB filters.
Emcan Astro EM31 Pro mount.

Alex,
Excellent result on a unique object
Contrast between the dust and interstellar space is spot on and Star field is top notch
Glad you scored some clear skies, it’s been miserable down around Sydney and South Coast NSW, windy and wet…….,
Well done !!

Martin

That's a great photo, very nice indeed. I assume this was on Sunday night, as it's been cloudy/rainy every other night in Brisbane for the last 47 years (or so it feels).

Thanks everyone.

I've done a revision, its on Astrobin

https://www.astrobin.com/lboy3b/B/

Patrick - Yes mate - Sunday night from 7:10pm through to about 2:45am by the time I finished taking flats...

It was such a shame to be backing up while its still clear outside, however, work on Monday at 8am was already difficult enough with a 3am bed time!

I'm hoping this weather backs off, I really want to add another 6h Lum, and another 1~2h each of RGB...

I'm quite happy with the result thus far - but its a long way from 'complete' in my eyes.
