thanks Guys , I had fun getting these,I must admit the DSI is getting easier to use but the processing still eludes me,one day I'll understand it all lol

The central structure that you have captured is visible in my 12.5" dob at high powers, actually I was pointing this out to Mark (mhodson) last night. At the eyepiece the contrast between the outer disk and this inner "CBS Eye" is much more sublte, but is certainly visible when you know what to look for. Challenge for people - how small an apeture is this feature visible in?

Is it that colour naturally, or have you used a filter of some sort? It is a lovely colour.

As far as I know thats the natural colour, a 1 sec exposure with the DSI brings out the colour so it must be a bright object, and no filters where used

What makes the stars have that pinky/reddy chromatic-abberation look to them? Is that the DSI?

Hi Mike the red colour could be a number of things, the most likley being my processing :-))
another could be the spacing between the DSI and the F3.3 reducer there are a number of different spacer's that come with the F3.3 and I am still in the learning stage with the F3.3.
And last of course it could be the natural star colour, I know the red and blue stars show up really well with the DSI,I don't think I have seen too many pink stars though :-))

I have to agree! great shot mate! your certainly getting a handle on the DSI now!!

When you stack your images, I think in both regiStax and Autostar have an rgb shift tool to remove red star look, this might help.

Thanks rob , I think its just my processing , the raw image doesn't show the red star, I am just about set up to try again tonight,
I might try guiding tonight so I can image for longer periods.
i want to do M83 again but I think it needs more than the 20mins I gave it last time.

We are stormed in and it's heading your way...
Was looking at doing an all nighter myself until that happened.
there's about 40+ M objects to be nabbed that I haven't yet chased...


Good pic's, keep them coming... you should play with rgb shift as it can tighten the image as well. You may not see it in the original raw image, when you bring the r + g + b sets together is when you play with colour shift. Anyways good luck with it
