IC2177 Seagull Nebula (2 panel mosaic)

Like most of my Summer Targets, this one has been several years in the making. The Seagull Nebula has felt like a bit of a white whale for me for a long time. I've tried to image it several times, and I have tended to start it every season, but I've never been able to actually finish it.

No More.

I've caught this Cetacean, and made it mine (finally).

This is a 2 panel mosaic, taken with the Tak and 2600MM. I stacked it with 2x Drizzle and processed at that resolution. I cropped to a 3:4 aspect ratio as that was the closest to the full image, then resampled it to 50% to upload to Astrobin. The full sized 2x Drizzle mosaic is over 300 megapixels; which even I will admit, is a little bit ridiculous.

Be sure to check it out on Astrobin.

As always C&C is very welcome!

Thanks for looking, enjoy and Clear Skies!

Hi Josh,

What a nice result for all that dedication. Zooming in on those details on Astrobin is a real treat. Well done.

Such a great image the file compression here does not do it justice. The astrobin image is awesome.

Thank you very much Stephane. I'm super pleased at how sharp this has turned out, it kinda makes all my other attempts worth it.

Thanks Dave. It feel good to finally scratch the itch for this target. I'll probably add to the data set down the line, and might even add some more panels.
