Crescent Venus, Saturday 5th August

A clear patch today with Venus right on the Meridian in bright sunshine.

Swapping out the focal reducer that normally lives on my Vixen ED103S and adding in a 2X Barlow gave me a 1500 focal length and better image scale.

Venus was still 14 degrees from the Sun. This may be the closest I am able to capture. The weather does not look promising and a travel commitment will rob me of the opportunity right at closest approach.

Thanks for looking.

Wow that’s really well done! I’m not sure I’m game to try to catch it so close to the sun now- although the thought has defiantly crossed my mind more than once!!
