IC4628 - Processed Prawn

Was finally able to get my astro gear out - only 3rd time this year due poor work-life-astro balance and needless to say, I'm a bit rusty atm (But, the 2nd half of the year looks much better). To get myself back into it, I chose an easy(?) target - IC4628 Prawn Nebula. In hindsight, my framing could have been better and I'm fighting with weird halos from the Antlia Dual NB / Evolux combo; I fixed a couple of conspicuous halos in PI but gave up on the rest.

Fantastic Alex, you've still got it. When did you sneak the cheeky 533 in?

Thanks John - it was almost spiritual being able to get my gear out and now, due a change in circumstance, I can now do it whenever I want wooo Mate, that’s very observant of you re my camera! I added the cheeky shmeeky 533MC a little while back but haven’t had the opportunity to use it. I’ve also added a 294MM and SHO filters/filter-wheel that I’ve not yet setup, but will do so soon - I’m really looking fwd to trying mono. The 533MC pixel size matches my 82ED sooo much better (also good for my 120ED too) than my 294MC which necessitated drizzling images due moderate undersampling. I also don’t mind the 533’s square sensor and its very clean image. I toyed with getting a 2600MC but also wanted a beginners mono setup. The 2600 will have to wait as my technology fund is now depleted for a while lolz. I’m working towards have each of my 3 scopes fully kitted so I can just put it on a mount without playing swap-tronics … I’m nearly there. Alex

Cheeky? That's a right bloody mischief. Good call, two cameras are better than one and three is better-er, obviously. It therefore stands to reason four would be a... is 'necessity' too strong? Bonus, you'll have to get a new scope too, win-win. A second mount is probably a sensible consideration

Nice image, Alex. The colours work well and the framing is good bad - maybe a bit tight. Feel like trying for a mosaic next time out??

@Bodon - the two bright dots at lower-left are the eyes and the blue/black-stripes area up and right of them is the stomach, whilst the orange blob in the lower-right is one of the claws. (Yeah, you need a good imagination to see it. Or several drinks...)

Thanks Steve x 2. I'm glad you explained that Steve, because just like the other Steve, I was struggling to see a crustacean. But now you've pointed it out I can kinda see a scrunched up prawn ... kinda :-) I like your suggestion of trying a mosaic, that would be something new to try and I'll def have a go as the ASIAIR appears to make mosaics particularly easy to setup and manage.

John, I like your n+1 theory, I like it a lot ... perhaps a little too much.
