M42 Mosaic - 1st attempt (Ha)

My first attempt at a mosaic, a simple 1 x 2 of M42 - I got my orientation wrong so ended up with the short edges overlapping rather than the long sides as I intended. Still happy with the results for a first attempt.

Panel 1 = 180s x 36
Panel 2 = 180s x 28
Panel 1 = 60s x 12
Panel 2 = 60S x 13

Stacked each of the 4 sets in ASTAP, then stitched the different exposure times to end up with single 180s & 60s mosaics which where then stretched & combined on Photoshop.

Cheers,
Mark

Nice one Mark, certainly brings a different perspective to this nebula as it is typically imaged with very little surrounding 'space' due to its scale.

The mosaic is a success I recon.
Well done!

Thanks Anthony, that was my plan, just not with the perspective I got.

Thanks Alex. Trying to get some practice in for my early New Year target of the Carina Nebula & surrounds (currently still behind the trees for me until mid-January). That will be 6 x 5 or 6 x 6, so 30 or 36 individual panels so a big many night project just for the Ha - if I only do an hour on each panel that's 5 or 6 good nights!

Cheers,
Mark

Well done Mark, I love mosaics. They give you so much more to look at at high resolution.
