Jupiter in good seeing Dec 6 2022

I bought a new toy for planetary, a ZWO ASI 678mc. Seems like a great camera. It will replace my ageing Svbony SV305.

Skywatcher 300PDS 12" Newtonian, ZWO ASI 678mc, Svbony barlow and UV / IR cut filter, modified NEQ6 Pro.

Excellent image! Cooling, processing, tracking, etc. with a big Newtonian. Is ASI 678mc good?

That is a tops image Kevin. Beautiful detail and colour. Some of the new ZWO cameras look quite interesting. That ASI678 is particularly interesting with such small pixels (2um). You would think that at your focal length it would be rather over-sampled, but your image is excellent regardless. Interesting ...

Thanks Hisanori. I think it's a pretty good camera. The later models have some nice features, like zero amp glow and low noise.

Thanks Dave. Should be the same res on FB, although there are some variants about.

Thanks P & C. Oversampling rules for deep sky don't apply to planet imaging. Generally for planets it's 5 X pixel size for F ratio, so 5 X 2 = F10. The camera was designed for native use without a barlow on F10 SCT's, although in good seeing, it doesn't mind F14 either!

I took a few vids, and this is another a few minutes apart.
