My father served in the Finnish Army in 1945, 30 years later I joined the Australian Army.

Your Grandad looks the the Chesty Bonds Man, that’s high praise! Though in my early sixties I’ve clear memories of some WWI vets, neighbours mostly.
A bloody brutal meat grinder of a war.
You’ve every reason to be very proud of your Grandad, mine was Mormon, one of Australia’s first and married to a German nation, he was a conscientious objectors. All of his sons Served in WWII including of course my father.
Your Grandad was a fine figure of a man.

Im chronically ill, a degenerative neurological disorder. I’m treated at Concord Hospital, the hospital is full of remembrances too WWII, it was built to treat the injured of WWII.
There special remembrance of POWs. An older nurse told me the last poor bugger theyd been a POW of the Japanese died in the late 70’s.
If you get the opportunity to have a look at Conord, it’s worth the trip. The last WWII hut was pulled down only this year.

Hi David. Thanks for your kind comments. I am proud of him and you have made me feel that more. I love those two photos. He has a competent bearing and looks to be a man to rely on. Yes it was a particularly terrible war and my mother said that he was affected. When he returned he didn't talk much and was almost deaf from gunfire.
