Saturn and Jupiter Saturday 1 October 2022

Last night the seeing was better than recent times. After processing the videos the quality figure was higher. We captured Saturn with five moons and Jupiter with the GRS and Ganymede in close proximity. There is a small amount of "detail" on Ganymede which, as far as we can remember, is the first time we have achieved this.

Great work there’s some fantastic detail in those shots. Yes looks like some albedo features in Ganymede - I suspect that if you processed the moons separately you might even be able to get some more detail but even now that’s quite an exceptional achievement for a 6” scope!!

Thanks David. That is a good idea. We should have a go with two layers, one processed for Jupiter and the other for Ganymede. A job for another day
