What will space look like in the 2030's

Was reading this and thought the line was a little scary from a "clear skies" perspective.

McKinsey report "Outer space in 2030"

"If every single concept were to launch in full, we’d have probably 8,000 to 12,000 satellites go up every year for the next ten years: this will help bring internet to people who don’t have access right now. It will be able to track emissions. It will be able to give you a better read of certain storm systems, and you’ll be able to track them earlier."

Another billion internet users...

How much CO2 does an internet search produce?

a web search? The search for a web address represents 3.4 Wh (0.8 g CO2 equivalent). But the total rises to 10 g after an internet search producing five results. If a web user makes an average of 2.6 web searches per day, this user can be extrapolated to be emitting 9.9 kg of CO2 equivalent per year.

Google states .2grams, but I'd guess that's after their own carbon rebates have been applied.

10 billion kilo's ... and 2.6per day is 950 searches a year... seems like a bit of undercount imo.

Petrol is about 8kilo per litre, so, that about 500,000 extra cars for the year (and every year after that). Either a lot or not much.
