After the rain.

Tonight after the rain had stopped the most magnificent rainbow and rays appeared (like spokes in a wheel). The rainbow was a full semicircle, double at times, unfortunately my lens at 18mm could only take in parts. I hastily snapped some shots, they really don't do the spectacle justice, but here are a couple.

Very nice Phil.

You have such a terrific view from your place!

I can also see in those pics that Tasmania has electricity now

Yes sorry Phil, I forgot to say that I like the photos too.
The first one's cool, it's secondary rainbow is easy to see but I can make out a third one, only just, I think.
And the rays look great how they radiate back from the bow.

The second one looks like it's just glowing from the centre.

The second one is to show the effect in the centre of the rainbow. The whole thing was like a half wagon wheel with spokes, most unusual. I have taken several shots, when I get time I'll see if I can stitch a decent mosaic from them.

Phil

I recommend you send the photo's to Spaceweather - they from time to time run a series of photos on rainbows - and these are excellent candidates.

Cheers Petra
