Ngc2997

This galaxy isn't commonly imaged here. I was tasked with this target for an online star party, liked what I saw and went on with it.

It is a face on unbarred spiral in Antlia, somewhere between 40-55 million light years away.
There are two main spiral arms and plenty of red star forming regions. The blue glow around and to the right of the galaxy appears real, possibly dust lit by the bright blue star.

There is 3.4 hours of Luminance and an hour each of RGB, all 2 minute subs, nearly all taken from a city location.

Skywatcher 10" CF F4 Newtonian, QSI 683 on an AZ-EQ6 mount. Captured with SGP, edited in Pixinsight.

Brilliant image, I love it .

After the planets, I really want to start imaging these type of galaxies, I'll have to give it a go myself. I tried NGC 1566 and got something, but I'd love to see what you could do with it (another challenge for you ).

Thanks for posting, Andrew

Thank you for the nice comment. I'll add NGC1566 to the list.

A great field with a nice collection of background galaxies thrown in. Plenty of detail and colour coming through. Makes for an interesting field.

Excellent colour in the galaxy and in the bright stars particularly.

Thank you Mike and Trish for the wonderful comment.

You always wonder if you get the balance of the image correct when creating it.
