Well I hope you are happy when you get it. It's a long time to wait.

Hey guys, as a matter of interest, when you order one of these beasties, do you get told what the price will be at time of order or do you agree to pay whatever the price may be when it’s finally ready?

Congrats...AP make superb instruments. It will be a sad day when Roland retires.

If you have imaging in mind and the budget allows, I'd suggest you look at both the field corrector and quad compressor.

A little taste of what the 130 GTX can do is here

That single 10min carina with the AP is absolutely sensational! Especially when compared the 15min FSQ106... far out.

You pay the current price. I signed up for a 130mm telescope - I'm not sure the current iteration of GT was being made when at that time. That said, I don't think the price changed much over the 8-10 years I was on the list.

Thanks all!
I appreciate the comments and accept the congratulations happily.

I called and placed my order and deposit today...

This will be my first AP scope...(I am nearing the top of another list of theirs too). I have a very nice APM 130mm that I have had while waiting...when the AP comes later in the year I may have a decision to make. The APM has been a fine scope for me and I am curious how it will compare.

I have been able to avoid the imaging bug so far but have a son who is interested in giving it a go so I did order the flattener and tele-compressor. I will need to figure out spacers etc. at some future date. I explained to my lovely wife that having “the whole set” would make this much more valuable when my estate disposes of my assets...

We did in fact have a horrendous storm last night and will get some more bad weather this weekend..ha ha to the weather gods...scope will not be in my greasy hands until November (estimate).

I am a happy boy

You don't actually "order" the scope until you get your notification (such as Scott did here), at which point you are asked to place a deposit of 50% of the current price.

The 8 years wait is just being placed on a notification list, which isn't an order.

Scott, even the BOM is feeling the effect of the order

BOM's spring outlook suggests it could be wetter than average

Congratulations ... I love mine but sadly I haven't used it to its full potential as a imaging scope .. I have only used it as a visual instrument and that isn't really what it was designed for.

Well at least some farmers will be happy that the dams will be full.

I do look forward to looking through it...while it might be overkill for visual, I can at least be sure that going forward the weak link in observing will be me.

If only I could get back to the dark skies of Australia.

BTW you only had a "short" wait.

I received an unexpected notification from AP just before last Christmas:

"You originally placed your name on the notification list for the Stowaway sometime between September 1999 and January 2002."

Of course I said yes. One can never have too many AP telescopes

My 130GTX calls it "mini-me"

I agree and was actually quite surprised to receive the notification on the 130 mm...I was expecting to hear concerning the 92 mm.

I have been watching the “I got notified” announcements on Cloudy Nights for the 92 mm and noticed that other people who went on the list earlier in the day that I signed up were getting notified and was hopeful I would be soon (before they stop making them) be among them and get the call. I believe the list for the 92 mm closed the day after I signed up.

I had to read my email twice before I realized it was the 130 mm that was coming up and not the 92 mm.

I am still hopeful on the 92 mm. With luck, I will be able to say “when it rains it pours” again soon...heck, if folks think a lot of rain and bad weather comes with a single AP scope purchase, I am a little afraid about what will happen if I get two within a few weeks period!

Maybe I should look into Ark Building....
