Strange sky conditions tonight

Rather bizarre conditions tonight. The transparency is terrible with smoke haze, and there is a very light breeze, but the seeing is rock solid. I'm watching my guide star on screen and it is basically flat lining it for 80% of the time. No jiggling about at all, just guide corrections. Shame about the smoke though.

JInxed myself. I shoulda kept my mouth shut. A patch of cloud drifted through just after my first post. While the seeing is still fairly good it is nothing compared to what it was before. That damn cloud had better be a sign there is some much needed rain on the way to fill the damns and tanks and to wash the smoke from the sky

Hi Paul

I heard that there will be a SW change coming through Friday arvo, so that should clear the air a little, although typically, SW winds also bring poor seeing but good transparency.

Cheers

Dennis

Raining here, Paul.

Much needed too. If it's no good for 'stronomy it may as well be raining...

Nothing abnormal happening down south .....clear, no cloud, quickly set the scope up, get ready to fire off the camera on some DSO's....preview screen go's dim, lookup....bloody cloud!! Starts to sprinkle, do the back in moving the whole scope/mount under the carport, 10 mins later clear....

Back out for another go?....Yeah why not! Builds up the back muscles!
