NGC 2671 & Gum 15

The central cluster here is ngc 2671 and Gum 15 is the brighter red nebula. It's on the edge of the Vela SNR and there's some green gas in the lower left corner.

I didn't know if the green remnants would show up so I might give the Pencil nebula a try (ngc 2736).

Very nice indeed. I'd give it a go, but I don't think my 250mm lens would
quite cut it.

Thanks Raymo. Being so large the Vela SNR/Gum nebula would be a nice target for a camera lens. At f/2.5 you might get away with 1 minute subs?

My 250mm lens is f/5.6, so forget that, my 100mm is f/2, so I could use it, but its a bit short on focal length. I might give the whole Vela SNR a go.

Thanks Alex. I gave the Pencil nebula a try last night; this is 33x5 min with the TS72. The pencil is pointing at Gum 23.
It's heavily cropped - want to try it with a bigger scope.

Short focal length would be good - the Vela SNR contained within the Gum nebula is such a massive area.
