1st rule of imaging Jupiter when using a Red gel screen cover......

.....check to make sure you still haven't got the the black and white check box checked after imaging the moon the other week

I was trialing using CoombellKids' 18mm orthoscopic last Tuesday night, trying to get rid of that dreaded "Blue Ring of Jupiter Death" and being Astrofest, all white light is totally banned and all laptops must have red gel/celophane covers on them. Consequently I wasn't aware/didn't remember I had checked the B&W checkbox in K3. Imagine my surprise the next morning when I checked some of the shots I'd processed the night before in the dark.

And it was such a good night too.

I'll post more from this night and others after I sort through the 70 or 80 avies I took.

Cracker of a shot Paul, colour's nice but the B&W version picks up all the detail. Looks great

Thanks Rob. Hey where were you? I was hoping to get to say hi. And I'm sure everything Dennis said wasn't true

Yeh, would have been fun, but my wife made me take her and the kids to Tasmania for a week instead

Well at least you got to experience the cold . I guess you didn't take any viewing equipment along? (apart from eyeballs.)

Great detail.
