SN 2017bzb in NGC7424
Thought I might have discovered my first supernova when I noticed the new star in NGC7424 but, alas, Stu Parker beat me to it by several months. It still makes a pretty picture.
High res is here:

Animated before/after GIF is here:

Before data is mine (C300/U16M). After data is from Martin Pugh's RH305/SBIG 16200 set up in NSW. I plan to combine both data sets to do an extra deep NGC7424 when I get a chance...
Cheers,
Rick.

Very nice Rick! On its own you’d not have guided that it was a SN, just looks like a field star in the way.

Nice going Rick. Pretty hard to beat Mr Parker I've heard - he's pretty prolific with the SN score to date.

Ta, Colin. Yep, looks like any old field star.

Thanks, Rob. It would be a bit unfair if I picked one up by accident when there are folks that spend so much time diligently searching

Very nice galaxy shot.
Bummer on the timing of the SN discovery. Just photoshop another one on the other side of the spiral.

Very interesting animation Rick
I look forward to the combined image (although the current ones are already splendid!)

Very pretty and colorful, you must have good memory if you can notice an extra star in a galaxy
Cheers

Nicely done Rick. It's tough these days to get an independent discovery.
Cheers

Ta, Bill. I was blink comparing the old with the new so it wasn't a result of sheer memory and visual acuity

Thanks, Steve. Plenty of Oiii halos to find but the big ticket items are tough.
