Cooled Astronomy CCD camera using 1.8inch 6mega ccd chip

Hello,

I just designed a cooled camera, using the 1.8inch 6.0mega ccd chip. This ccd chip is just like the NIKON D50 camera's Here is the prototype.

The pixel size is 7.8um*7.8um, 3000*2000, color.

This camera using 16bit ADC.USB2.0.Download speed is about 1sec for whole image.TEC is 2 stage

IR filter test on this camera:

I tested some IR filter on this ccd camera
All the image is using the 16bit FIT format, convert RGB color in MAXIMDL.
Image is not color balanced.

First image using NIKON D50's IR filter/OLPF.It shows this filter cut off much red color. Whole image is become green.

Seond image is not using any filters.Red is improve a lot.

Thrid image is using the IR filter of myself, This filter's center wavelength is 680nm, It allow all the H-alpha light pass

Because this weather is the "rain weather " of our city, there is no good chance to go out do some capture.maybe next month I can find good weather.

But I have done some dark frame test, 10min ,excellent. There is almost no hot pixels. When stretch to the low bit, the hot pixel is only a few.Much better than KODAK's chip.

10 minutes dark frame test.TEC ON.Enviroment temp is 30C

I stretch the image into low bit,and add some offset so that the hot pixel is easy to see. There is only a few hot pixels in this 10min exposure. If do not
strech ,there is no any hot pixel can be seen. The result is much better than the kodak chip.

Hi glad to see you here .
If I had a lap to I could test them for you under a real dark sky ... your units look terrific and the noise reduction over dslr will make them highly useful for astrophotography. I cant wait to get a set up including one .

This time the price is USD1299 include new ccd chip.If you have a D50 camera and want to take the ccd out and install into this camera body, the price will be USD799.

Currently the software is AstroWin.This is the software written by myself. The plugin for MAXIMDL is also under development.
