Gum 85

First processed deep sky image from Astrofest. Gum 85 and friends (Gum 84 the larger emission region, and NGC6604 open cluster just to the south). Not often imaged, I suspect due to M16 being so close just out of frame to the south, although I did notice DJT posted it recently with M16.

Full sized image here on my Flickr

Any tips/critique on the processing welcomed. Been a while for me.

Gee Troy, that's a really nice shot with lovely processing, well done. I think you are right, this bit of sky probably gets overlooked due to its proximity to the Eagle neb...which is pretty speccy I guess

Some excellent red there, Troy, and nice star colours. A very pleasing image.

Thanks mate. Saw a cool wider field of view just today showing this, M16 and M17 here: https://flic.kr/p/XHJekU and even wider here: https://flic.kr/p/WTeSC2
Amazing it gets missed.

Thanks mate. Was expecting a red/green crack in there.

Not too much red? Tried that new PCC tool in PI, but then later in the processing buggerised around dropping the red a little and pushing the blue/green because it did look a little red overall still.

Wouldn't be a Sharpless object if it wasn't super red The star colour offsets it nicely.

Very nicely done Troy.

What were the details of the capture process please?

Yes going south to north, starting with M8, it really should be the sixth most imaged nebula running down that line of the Milky Way...seems the competition is just too great, so on ya for highlighting the underdog!

Yeah mate. Considering the clouds, happy to come away with some RGB for a couple of targets, this being the most complete.

Thanks for sharing the info Troy. I'm still imaging in the OSC realm with a Canon 60Da, so info like this will be very useful down the track when (if!) I go mono.

Hi Troy
Very nice image. It stands out well on its own as an object in its own right as well as in the wide field views.

Nicely done.
