The witches broom, NGC 6960

This one rises between the backyard tree and house in a 2 hour window between 8.30 and 10.30 pm. Got to do a bit of pruning before the next new moon to make that window bigger.

14 X 120 sec @ iso 1600 unmodded canon 1100d, 10" f4.7 newt on pier mounted Heq5 pro. guided by asi 120mc on 50mm finder guider.

That's so cool, bright stars I do like the spikes and the wisp looks great. The 10 inch certainly captures the light, great shot and from the backyard! I feel your pain with the trees blocking the view. It can be frustrating I know...

Very nice job! I wasn't comfortable using a 10" F/4.7 on an EQ6 let alone a HEQ5!

Thanks Peter it's a bit faint but a very photogenic object, I'm keen to get some more images of this.

Thanks Anthony, I had a go with the 6" RC (f9) but the 10" is so much better on the faint stuff. I have a good view from north to south but my east has a large paperbark tree so I have to wait for objects to rise quite high before I can image them.

I am quite surprised as to how well the 10" rides on the HEQ5 but I do have it bolted to a pier, I would be nervous putting it on the supplied tripod. The skywatcher f4.7 is about the same weight as a GSO f4, but kitted out it's still at the max weight for the mount.

Here's a pic of my setup.

Nice image Rick. Unfortunately my northern tree line is quite bad now and can't see this at present.

Thanks Kevin, that's the problem with low northern objects they only rise high enough for a short time each night. I'm lucky in some respects as all the trees are in my yard so I can trim whenever I like, but that paperbark takes half my sky and the last quote to cut it down was 5 k so I wait.
