Losmandy GM811G Mount

Not sure if anyone else has noticed this - it seems Losmandy has posted a new mount on their website which is based on a GM8 with a significantly larger RA worm gear, and the high performance drives. And a nice price.

The new G11 GT looks quite impressive. Not that I need one, but 75 pounds of imaging capacity sounds very nice - should work nicely with a 250mm RC.

The old G11 can easily handle that size RC - I had my RC10 on my G11 and it worked well - possible to take 30 min images (guided).

Great to know Chris. I was thinking of perhaps getting a 10 inch RC one day in a distant future, but thought it would be too much for my Mach1, because of the long focal length and running near the mount's maximum capacity.

I like the look of the G11 GT, just not the weight of the mount head

It comes in two pieces, though. You only have to assemble two delicate, precision-machined, hard-to-hold bits with total weight of 30kg ... in the dark. What could go wrong?

Still, Losmandy quality and 34kg photographic payload at a ... sort of ... affordable price is interesting.
