Kills me to do this, but with me moving direction in astro, I need to find a new home for my gorgeous orange tube C8.
This scope has among the sharpest optics I have seen in a C8, of this vintage or newer. On nights of extraordinary seeing I have had no problem pushing it to 400X and as sharp as a tack!
Mount has a 240V drive that is remarkably true. I've had this scope set up at outreach nights, aligned and fixed on Saturn and no need to make adjustments to reposition it in the FOV after 2 hours with an inverter (inverter not included in sale). This scope is great for video astronomy, but not for more dedicated astrophotography.
Comes with original tripod and wedge. Wedge has azimuth control bolts. The finder is a straight through 8X50 Skywatcher. Scope to wedge coupling bolts have solid acrylic knobs moulded onto them for tool free attaching.
Included are the standard 1.25" visual back & a 1.25" diagonal AND a 2" SCT diagonal from Bintel. Also the original power cable PLUS a brand new replacement power cable as these are hard to come by. Also included are the original set of instructions and chest case (not best condition).
I have put onto it a large wheel onto the focuser knob to facilitate focusing to a finer degree of control that the small knob alone provides. Held on by friction grip so can be removed. I designed it so not to interfere with the 2" diagonal.
Also included is a digital protractor to help regulate the inclination of the wedge to 0.1° (not in photos below).
I can add an eyepiece or two if you need.
Asking $800, pick up from Maroubra in Sydney. Not keen to ship, but I can with cost of freight, insurance and appropriate packaging borne by purchaser.
