What do you do on a hot humid summer night when the moon is nearly full and clear sky is frequently spoilt by fast moving low and slow moving high clouds? Yes, Carina!
It has been ages since I presented a colour image...anyway, I think I will try to collect more data of the Carina and make a more careful processing - in this revision #1.0 it looks like I managed to split Eta Carina! Wait, it is in fact a binary...LOL
SHO composition, 12 five minute subs per filter (Ha, OIII and SII).
BTW, I really like my new mount. Seeing varied on that night, but the total RMS was consistently around 0.35 arcseconds and when air was still it dropped to 0.25 arcseconds.
Thank you for looking
Suavi

Reason: Updated the links
Now that is very impressive Suavi, the Mach 1 is performing excellently. The hi-res is just as outstanding.
any chance of pming me the details of your mount purchase, i.e. who with, cost etc
PS Could the appearance of eta car be the homunculus?
Very nice Suavi I like it and good choice of target too given the conditions...now..juuuust needs some magenta stars and I will love it
I had similar conditions with passing cloud coming on 2 years ago now and I decided to shoot the same thing for the same reasons, all be it at a finer image scale and narrow FOV
Again, nice job and I'm lovin the mount too..and it isn't even mine ... and long live Eta Carina
Yes, the mount is gold and it has significantly increased the level of joy I am getting from this hobby/passion our ours.
Mike, thank you for posting your truly awesome image- I will definitely use it as a benchmark and will try to close the gap, as much as it is possible
Just to be clear ...the intention of my reference to my image was to show that, like you experienced, even on those nights that we may initially think DANG! ...we can still salvage worthwhile result by taking a different approach.
I perfectly understood your comment Mike - it was me who did not express myself clearly. I love your images and I am convinced that guys like myself who are quite new to this hobby can learn a lot from more experienced imagers, if we pay attention and are not afraid to experiment. Please keep doing what you have been always doing!
Nicely resolved Sauvi!
Actually had a run of clear weather down here in Melbourne but with the hot nights, 4" seeing and twinkling at zenith I haven't even bothered setting up! Although a bit cloudy your skies look pretty stable
The nice thing with the Carina nebula is that it is so bright! You've got pretty smooth data for limited data. Glad that your Mach 1 is keeping you happy!
I've had the same project running for weeks!got the Ha, now only just started the Lum.....starting to think I won't get the colour done any time soon
Thank you Louie, I am looking forward to your record of this beautiful and popular DSO

Yes, I thought I will try a brighter object for a change
Some great detail in that image. Eggscuse my ignoramis, but why don't you have magenta stars?
Thank you Kevin. As for the stars, I used a straight SHO colour palette and also removed stars when combining narrowband channels into a RGB image (but not from the Luminance) - some consider it a forbidden technique
