Initially I had a look on the ipad, now looking on a 4k monitor, holly cow, its sharp  . Excellent work Greg, monster effort

Just amazing, Greg. It's rather hard to make a familiar object seem exciting, but you have managed to pull it off!

Very nice Greg. As you say, there is plenty of sharp detail. NGC253 is definitely a galaxy that needs reasonable seeing. It's so big that bad seeing with blurred detail will be immediately obvious, whereas many other galaxies are so far away that lack of detail is not so obvious.
A bit too much red for me, but there are plenty of other renditions that come up in the same way.

Thanks Geoff. Some renditions don't show the red/yellow core too well. Most images seem to have a yellow/reddish core.

I think it is probably more that 253 has been imaged perhaps more than any other galaxy in the sky, so we can all compare to something in our memory very easily and we have all seen lots of poor or average and a few good versions, with only a sprinkling of really great ones, ie the whole range. On the contrary, smaller more distant galaxies and thus usually much less imaged, aren't in our minds eye anywhere near as much and certainly few if any really good versions can be easily recolected, so in effect we have less to be familiar with so don't notice the level of resolution as much. I think this is why so few versions of 253 capture the imagination ...and why I like to compare to Hubble shots sometimes, to see what level of detail has been captured and what some of the features actually are...did that make any sense..?
