Ya gotta love Tassie weather!
Walking around at my dark site yesterday in Freezer gear, wind howling, drizzle with a hint of sleet... Today, same spot, Tee shirt and shorts, warm sun gentle breeze. Bloody marvellous Richie! Ya just gotta love 4 seasons in one day!

Tell me about it!!! A group of us spent Friday and Saturday night at Waddamana for an observing weekend. Cloud all weekend with miraculous sunshine just in time to pack up this morning.

Any climate south of the Great Divide is defective. 4-seasons-in-1-day is the optimist's way of saying "puke".

Rubbish. I endured 20+ years in Northern Vicsnoria and hated pretty much every second of it. Six months of insane stinking heat, dust and bloody cicadas droning at 3:00am, three months of freezing cold humid rubbish and three months gasping between the two.
I wouldn't live on the mainland again even if someone promised me a 2m professional scope on a dark site with all the bells and whistles.

Exaggeration. Six months of insane, stinking heat exists in the Kimberley and Pilbara.

Sounds like a standard maritime winter in Tassie or Southern Vic.

Well, I guess it depends on your definition of "insane, stinking" heat. 30C, 40C?
Yes, northern Vic gets hot in summer, but 6 months of "insane" heat... I'm sorry, but that is just hyperbole. Perhaps try a summer in Port Hedland or Kununurra and anywhere in between, then evaluate...

Of course, I must have been deluded. I didn't watch the Eucalypts dying around the area during my last Summer there or find the chook pen full of dead and bloated chooks after one inspirational day.... Yes, I guess it does depend on your definition..., but, then again, I am sure you were there watching as I fried an egg on the footpath, just to prove the point.
Perhaps you need to experience the defective climate in Tasmania, which I have joyfully endured for over 20 years, to understand why it'll be a cold day in Hell before I move back over the ditch...

It would be one hell of a boring world if we were all exactly the same, would it not?
