That is a magnificent result. I just opened up the large version and it feels like you're in a spaceship looking out a porthole heading toward the galaxy. You must be very pleased with that. One of the best NGC 253s I've seen. Well done.

Excellent Greg not only some nice detail, but also the fact that your colour leans towards magenta....not too much, but just enough for a very attractive result.

Has to be one of the most detailed looking shots of this object I have seen. Great work Greg.

That's just beautiful. Top job!
What's the imaging scale on that setup?

Thank you for the endorsement. Sometimes you see downloads coming off the rig and you can see something special occurring.

Thanks for that. It helps having some excellent Sculptor images from this site to use as a reference guide.
Greg.

The number of background galaxies is amazing. They are a little more obvious in the luminance only image. I should post that later.

Thanks Louie. Some of the excellent Sculptors on this site have shown the magenta/blue areas very nicely so I used that as a guide.

Thanks Andy. Yes I was thrilled when I saw the downloads. I had been imaging some other dim galaxies and they are harder work and some need more exposure. The brighter targets do seem to come up well.

A reminder of how much stuff there is in the Universe. I have another image and it seems there are more background galaxies than stars in the image.

Wow! This is sensational Greg! Very dynamic image - love how you captured those blue and red regions and also the patterns made by cooler galactic dust. Now I want a bigger telescope (and darker skies!)

Aaaaaaah Go Bigga!! ....a great 253 Greg, that small spiral mid upper left is always a good
Indicator of the seeing/resolution.
Im out at the obso, so I am only looking at it on my Samsung Galaxy too, so I look forward to checking it out at home on the big screen ..any dwarf spheroidal galaxies?
Mike

I'll have to look up where it is. Off to the left isn't?

What everyone else said plus one. Very fine. Beautifully sharp. The colours are strong, but they are nicely balanced.

Thanks for that. I thought that level of sharpness would only be possible using an AO. But good tracking and good seeing worked its magic here.
The CDK also holds focus really well even in temperature changes.
Greg.
